MOUNT VESUVIOUS
Since then, Vesuvius has erupted about three dozen times. View the crater of Vesuvius, 1281 meters above sea level, by walking for approximately 45 minutes up the steep mount, as the road for vehicles terminates half way up this climb.
POMPEII
The ancient Roman city of Pompeii was destroyed and buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D, preserving it forever exactly how it was when the eruption occurred. Your private local licensed Pompeii guide will take you on a fascinating tour through this once thriving empire of nearly 20,000 inhabitants that was completely covered in 30 feet of volcanic ash. Take in the baths, villas, theatres and wrestling grounds.
HERCULANEUM
is an ancient residential town of Greek origins, a smaller town with a wealthier population at the time of the eruption. Covered by a torrent of mud rather than ash, the ruins are in some ways even better-preserved, and the site offers a variety of beautiful scenery and invaluable arts. Embark on a walking tour through the villas with portico gardens, fountains and baths, and admire the wall frescoes and floor mosaics. Excavations of Herculaneum began by accident in 1709 when some workers, digging a well, discovered a wall which was later found to be one of the stages of the ancient theatre. Later, there were many human skeletons uncovered at the ancient shoreline, suggesting that numerous inhabitants attempted to escape but perished when mountains collapsed and volcanic gases were released.
With Italy private port shore excursion we make sure that your day is informative and that your day is enjoyable and comfortable.
For the above Excursion we suggest good walking shoes and comfortable dress.

We shall go to the roots of this marvellous city. Discovering the greatest of Emperors, the succession of Popes, the ruins of Imperial Rome and the masterpieces of Michelangelo and Bernini.
We will meet by the boat and within 45-50 min we shall be in the heart of Rome. Our first stop will be The Palatine Hill. Here we will have the possibility to appreciate the scenic view overlooking Circus Maximus. Some may recognize this location as where they shot the movie “Ben Hur” in 1959, one of the most admired films concerning Ancient Rome.
From Circus Maximus we will be able to easily carry on and shortly reach the most well-known monument in Rome, the Coliseum. We have just come upon the domain of the gladiators where we shall enter into the glorious structure without waiting any lines or queues. After absorbing the vastness and enormity of this monument, whose walls could tell such wicked tales, we will then proceed on towards the car. We will be able to see the Roman Forum, Venezia Square, the Spanish Steps, the Fountain of Trevi, and Navona Square. Not excluding The Pantheon, a truly mystical structure of which Michelangelo spoke of when he first saw it in the early 1500’s, with these words, “angelic and not of human design.”
At this point we will give ourselves an energy boost by stopping to have lunch, Roman style. Bruschette, pasta, and coffee. Then we are off to stroll through the Vatican Museums with its world famous Sistine Chapel. Here we will find some of Michelangelo’s most prominent works and then later to St. Peter’s Cathedral, the most outstanding church in Christendom.
This service is carried out exclusively by your personal driver and guide. He or she will accompany you internally through the Vatican Museums and then return with you to the vehicle.
In general the entrance and tour through the museum is better managed between the hours of 1:30pm and 2:00pm

Fourty meters below the characteristic and lively streets of the Historic Center of Naples, you find a different world, unexplored, isolated by time, but deeply connected with the world above.
It’s the heart of Naples, and the place from which the city was born. To visit it is to travel to the past, a world 2400 years old.
Every historic epic, from the foundation of Neapolis, to the bombs of WWII, has left it’s mark on the walls of the yellow tufa stone, the soul of Naples, and the stone with which the city was built.
Naples is a city built upon ancient ruins, and below its churches and street markets are the remains of catacombs, Greek temples, Roman theaters, aqueducts and huge empty caverns.
The first excavations date back 5,000 years, near the end of the prehistoric era.
Later, the Greeks quarried large quantities of stone to build the city walls and temples, and the Romans continued, creating aqueducts and connecting tunnels that were used as streets.
A new aqueduct built in the 1600s closed in 1884, leaving miles of empty underground tunnels and cisterns. Many of the passageways were converted into air-raid shelters during World War II, then abandoned and used as a dumping ground for building debris.
Guided walks tour of the Greek-Roman underground in Naples via mysterious cavities, tunnels and secret passages. Pages of the city`s history where one can relive the sensations of those who fled there during the war, forced to stay in these places during the bombings.
Departures: Thursday at 21.00, Saturday at 10.00 - 12.00 -18.00, Sunday at 10.00 - 11.00 - 12.00 and 18.00.

Private Shore Excursion down into the Greek ruins of Paestum passing through the Amalfi Coast and on request a stop at Vietri sul Mare famous for it glass and ceramics.
Leaving from your hotel a day with your private english speaking driver to the Greek ruins of Paestum Allow that you choose this Excursion its another aspect of the area that surrounds the coast
The greek Ruins are a great importance and there are many important areas to enjoy.
Drive down into Paestum stopping along the way at a glass factory as the area driving into the greek ruins
Vietri Sul Mare is famous for it glass and ceramics (glass by the sea).
History on the site
A very important archeological place, Paestum, located in the Sele plain, is also famous as a summer resort. The town was founded by the Dorics in 650 B.C. under the name of Poseidonia; conquered by the Lucanians who called her Paistos and then, in 273 B.C. by the Romans who gave her the name of Paestum.
The walls date back to the IVth century with Roman and Lucan parts and are strengthened by towers often as thick as 7 meters. Inside the town there are the Temple oh Hera, dating back to 550 B.C., with nine columns on the short sides and eighteen on the long ones and remains of the decoration of the architrave; the Temple of Nettuno, built in 450 B.C., imposing and harmonious, formed by a base with three steps on which stand six columns on the short sides and fourteen on the long ones. The columns are all nine meters high and are united, on top, by an architrave supporting a sloping roof ending both on the front and in the back with two pediments; the Temple of Cerere of 500 B.C., with six columns on the short sides and thirteen on the long ones. In the inside part there can be still seen the remains of such places as the Curia, the thermae, the Italic temple, the comitium, the aerarium etc.. In the nearby museums there are precious materials coming from the town and from the neighbourood among which ceramics and sculptures, fictile little statues, bronzes and the slabs of the famous “Tomba del Tuffatore” dating back to 490 B.C., the only example of wall paintings of Magna Graecia. Next to the museums stands the early Romanic basilica of Annunziata, noteble sacred building with nave and two aisles.
Areas to visit
National Museum. The national museum contains important objects and materials (funerary items, pots, etc.) found in the town, in the near necropolises and at the sanctuary dedicated to Hera Argiva at the mouth of Sele River. The only example of funerary painting is the Tomb of the diver of 490/480 b. C. The paintings of the tomb portray scenes from a symposium and a diver.
Remains of the sanctuary dedicated to Hera Argiva, built around 600 b.C.
“Telling museum” of Hera Argiva. This museum presents different interpretations of the homonymous sanctuary, an archaeological site made just of a few remains. The museum “tells” about this site, thanks to films, three-dimensional recreations, videos. Visitors live this experience as they were inside the excavations.
Temple of Poseidon or Neptune: it is the most beautiful example of Greek architecture in Western world. It was built in V century b.C. The temple has 6 front columns and 14 side columns.
“Sacello Ipogeico”, built around VI century b.C.: it is maybe a small Greek temple dedicated to goddesses of fecundity and fertility. Or it is maybe a cenotaph (a symbolic tomb that does not contain a body). Inside many bronze pots were found.
Heraion, the temple dedicated to Hera, a big Doric building with grooved columns
The temple dedicated to Cerere was built at the end of VI century b.C. with 6 front columns and 13 side columns. The temple has a unique feature: the tall pediment. The Doric frieze is very interesting: it is made of large calcareous blocks, with metopes.
Roman amphitheatre, used by gladiators. It was built around I century a.C.
Remains of aThesaurus, a small and ancient temple dedicated to Hera.
Cathedral dedicated to Madonna del Granato, whose worship recalls the Pagan cult of Hera Argiva. It was built in XI century.
Early-Christian Basilica (Church dedicated to Our Lady of the Annunciation), the most ancient Greek temple, built in VI century b. C. and dedicated to Hera, that is Juno. The temple has 9 front columns and 18 side columns.
